It all started with this tweet by Allison Hintz:
Dying eggs! How would you mathematize this image?

And wouldn't you know it ... looking out the window during my flight to Arizona last Friday, I see this:
A bunch of circles in the middle of "nowhere"! I have no idea what these are - there were quite a lot of them - but it was really striking to see these perfect circles all of a sudden pop up in the middle of the desert landscape.
After landing in Phoenix, again looking out my window, I saw this image:

The topic for my next blog post had been decided!
Math is everywhere around us, and it doesn't always involve numbers. While visiting Arizona, I began looking for mathematical images that I could share with you. I'd love to hear about the "math" that you see, or find, in each picture. What I would LOVE even more, however, would be to hear about your children's thinking. So please ask them to join you while looking through this post!
Ideally I wanted the ability to have comments under each picture, but I was unable to figure out how to make that happen. Therefore, I will label each image, and create a space for you to either comment via a survey tab at the end of the post, OR in the regular comment section. I have also decided to not share why I think the images are mathematical, at this time anyway ... I don't want to sway anyone's thinking.
So take a look, have fun, discuss, and most of all, be sure to share!

Thank you - I can't wait to read, and learn about, all of your mathematical thinking!
