It's the end of an era--the 24th and last Elephant and Piggie book. In this Elephant and Piggie version of Green Eggs and Ham, Piggie invites Gerald to try her favorite food…slop. Gerald is not so sure he's going to like it. I will miss these two characters!
Grades 1-3
This is the second book in the Princess in Black series. There is a third book coming out in February-2016 called The Princess in Black and the Hungry Bunny Horde. I adore these books. The princess is the heroine who saves the boy and his goats from being eaten by the monsters. I love that it's the princess doing the saving, and is not the one waiting to be rescued by the handsome prince. An empowering message for the reader!
Grades 4-8
Moving Target is a fast moving, action-packed mystery set in Italy. Cassie Arroyo's life is turned upside down in an instant when she learns that people from a secret organization are after her. She discovers that she is the marked descendant of the Secret Spear of Destiny which brings it's own set of complications. A cliffhanger ending will leave you anxiously awaiting the next book. Readers who liked Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library and Loot would enjoy this book.

Hatchet and the rest of Gary Paulsen's books are usually instant hits for a lot of 4th and 5th graders. This Side of Wild is a compilation of true stories about Gary Paulsen's relationships with the animals he has encountered in his life--their compassion, intellect, intuition, and ability to heal the human heart.

This graphic novel version is book #3 in the series. The girls get in a huge fight, and shy, reserved Mary Anne has to navigate making some new friends, face her overprotective father, and save the Babysitter's Club from falling apart. I really like these books and wish they were around when I was in elementary school.
What's on your TBR pile this week? Next up for me is The Nest by Kenneth Oppel.
Happy reading!
