Happy Monday everyone! Spring break around here was a little different this year. My husband and my oldest son spent the week down in California visiting colleges, while I stayed behind to help my youngest recover from having his wisdom teeth removed. It was a mellow week, but I'm happy to say I read 7 really great books. Check them out below:
A Pig, A Fox, and a Box by Jonathan Fenske
Grades K-1
Finding quality books for my students to practice their rhyming skills is always on my radar. This 2016 Theodore Seuss Geisel honor award winner did not disappoint. Tested by my kindergarten intervention students, they all gave it two thumb's up. I've added this title to my collection.

Babymouse Goes for the Gold by Matthew and Jennifer L. Holm
Grades 2-4
This is a brand new Babymouse adventure about being brave and trying something new. Babymouse joins the swim team at her mother's insistance that she be more active. After many ups and downs, she ends up learning a new skill and discovers the value of being part of a team.

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown
Grades 3-6
The Wild Robot has been getting love from everyone I know who has read it and it did not disappoint. I've heard it described as version 2.0 of Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. It's a heart warming read with several themes to ponder and leaves you wanting to be better at helping others in whatever capacity you can.

Soar by Joan Bauer
Grades 4-8
This is the perfect book to read now--at the start of baseball season. We are all things high school baseball at our house right now, and this could not be a more fitting time of year to read this inspiring story. This was by far my favorite book that I read this week.

Raymie Nightingale by Kate DiCamillo
Grades 3-6
If you liked Kate's earlier novel, Because of Winn Dixie, you will enjoy Raymie and her story.

Paper Wishes by Lois Sepahban
Grades 3-6
It's 1942, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, and 10-year-old Manami and her family are being forced to leave their Bainbridge Island home to live in a Japanese relocation camp in California. This is the story of her family's survival during this dark period of American history. Read this story of love and longing with a box of tissues nearby.

Booked by Kwame Alexander
Grades 4-8
Newbery award winner, Kwame Alexander, author of The Crossover, writes another amazing novel in verse. Booked is a quick read that I couldn't put down. This time soccer is the focus with themes of family, love, and friendship. I LOVED it!
It's been awhile since I've checked in with the #IMWAYR community, and am anxious to see what everyone's been reading lately. Hope you are able to read and share something awesome this week!!
